Over the past eight years I’ve published about 23 or so fics (Fanfiction for the uninitiated). A whooping 13 of those was written and posted in 2025. With a total word count of 38,000, it’s the most I ever wrote or published. So there’s a certain sense of accomplishment I feel when I think back over 2025.
I’m mostly proud of what I wrote last year, but there are a few stories I think could have been held back and worked on longer. It’s just the second half of the year I felt all over the place. It was hard to focus on one piece or dedicate any real time for reading.
Maybe this was burnout and I just didn’t realize it. Now that it’s 2026 I’m feeling a lot better, it’s almost like a switch was flipped in my head.
This year I want to branch out away from fanfiction and back toward my first love—short stories. I love reading fanfiction, the creativity and the community is something I will never get tired of, but I think I’ve overgrown the medium a little bit.
Without further ado here’s an official list of my 2026 Goals:
- Write two short stories
- Put one short story on submission
- Katie’s 3rd annual watch 100 movies goal
- Read 20 books.
(If you couldn’t tell from my goals, I like to low ball my ideas so I don’t get to overwhelmed.)
Until next time,
Katie.
